SUBJECT: Marine Institute to hold Remembrance Day ceremony

The Marine Institute will pause and pay homage to those who have lost their lives in battle during a special Ceremony of Remembrance today, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m. at the Marine Institute.
In total, 10 wreaths will be laid by the Marine Institute, Marine Institute’s Student Union, Memorial University of Newfoundland, the Company of Master Mariners, Canadian Institute of Marine Engineers, CFNES, Merchant Navy, Naval Association and the Crow’s Nest Officers’ Club.
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join in this special event to commemorate the armed and merchant navy forces that participated in the world wars. Naval cadets and officers with the Canadian Forces Naval Engineer School (St. John’s) will also participate in the ceremony.
Dr. Eddy Campbell, vice-president academic for Memorial University, Glenn Blackwood, executive director of the Marine Institute, and special guests will be on hand to honour veterans everywhere as Remembrance Day approaches on Nov. 11, 2007.
A reception will be held following the service.
