SUBJECT: Grenfell - PSA: Visiting writer Colin McAdam to read from his work in Corner Brook

Grenfell College’s English program will host Canadian novelist and short story writer Colin McAdam this week. The internationally acclaimed author will read from his work on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. at The Barroom, 48 Broadway.
Colin McAdam is a Canadian fiction writer who splits his time between Montreal and Sydney, Australia. His first novel, Some Great Thing (Raincoast Books), was the winner of the 2005 Amazon/Books in Canada First Novel Award, and was nominated for the Governor General's Award, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and the Commonwealth Writers Prize–Best First Book. 
His stories have appeared in magazines such as The Walrus and Harper's. The son of a Canadian diplomat who was posted throughout the world, McAdam grew up in Hong Kong, Denmark, England and Barbados, as well as Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal.
He studied classics at the University of Toronto and McGill University, and earned his PhD in English literature from Cambridge University. He comes to Corner Brook after a long journey from Australia.
