On Saturday, Oct. 7 from 3-5 p.m., the public are invited to The Rooms for the launch of a new archival project that highlights the ties between culture and place, and blends words and music to explore regional traditions and the aural documentation of the past. During the event, Memorial’s Department of Folklore and its Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media and Place (MMaP) will release a new CD called Newfoundland and Labrador Folklore: A Sampler of Songs, Narrations, and Tunes.
The Saturday afternoon event will feature historic recordings from the Memorial University Folklore and Language Archive (MUNFLA), set against the ongoing innovative exhibition Intangible Evidence, which closes on Sunday.
A reception will be hosted by The Rooms, Provincial Art Gallery. The event takes place at The Rooms (Level 4), 9 Bonaventure Avenue. All are welcome.
