Memorial University of Newfoundland will be hosting an awards ceremony to announce the winners of the “Rant Like Rick” contest on Monday, May 7, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the Inco Innovation Centre, (room IIC-2001). Memorial University President Dr. Axel Meisen will present three outstanding winners with “best rant” awards, including best overall. Each winner will receive free tuition for two semesters (currently valued at $2,550). Additional awards will also be presented for best acting, best cinematography, best writing and an honourable mention.
The “Rant Like Rick” contest invited high school students from across Canada to create a rant in true Rick Mercer style to win free tuition for a year.
Media agencies are invited to send representatives. Parking is available in Area 18. The ceremony is also open to the general public.
