SUBJECT: Grenfell - Canada Research Chair Seminar Series at Grenfell College

Dr. Stuart Marks is visiting SWGC and giving a lunchtime presentation on "Village Level Assessments of the Costs and Benefits of a “Community-based” Wildlife program in Zambia after Eighteen Years". The seminar is being held in AS328 on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, from noon to 1 p.m. and all are welcome.
Dr. Marks is an independent researcher and consultant based in North Carolina and has extensive experience in wildlife management research. He spent 8 years with Safari Club International Foundation as Senior Scientist for Research and Community Development and as Senior Advisor for Wildlife Conservation and African Policy. He has undertaken fieldwork in many regions, including major research and consulting projects in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. His new book, Life as a Hunt: A Threshold of Identities, Images, and Illusions on an African Landscape, is about the Valley Bisa people of Zambia’s Luangwa Valley.
