SUBJECT: Engineering at Newfoundland and Labrador Science Centre

For three Saturdays in March, the Newfoundland and Labrador Science Centre and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University will be introducing children to the fun side of engineering.
As part of Memorial’s community outreach projects, university engineers will be at the science centre beginning March 3 to provide hands-on learning opportunities about engineering and the ways it impacts our lives every day. Dr. Yuri Muzychka will show how aerodynamics makes cars and airplanes go fast, Dr. Steve Bruneau will demonstrate alternative energy, Dr. Nick Krouglicof will break things to reveal the strength of materials, Dr. Wei Qui will explain why boats float and Dr. George Mann will give examples of how we live with robots. Jonathon Stevenson will also be on hand to show how you can control an airplane. Engineers Without Borders will also reveal how kids in developing countries use simple technology to get big results.
