SUBJECT: The Ross Family Medicine Centre official opening

Media representatives are invited to attend the official opening of the Ross Family Medicine Centre at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, in room G05/G06, main floor, Southcott Hall, L.A. Miller Centre, Forest Road.
This academic teaching site of Memorial University has recently moved to the sixth floor of Southcott Hall in the Miller Centre and is being formally named in memory of the late Dr. John Ross, a well-respected physician, educator and humanitarian.
Dr. William Eaton will be master of ceremonies, and greetings will be brought by Dr. Oleh Waller, former medical resident and family friend; John Ottenheimer, minister of health and community services; George Tilley, president and CEO of the Health Care Corporation of St. John’s; and Dr. James Rourke, dean of Medicine at Memorial.
At 2:25 p.m.there will be short presentations on: Doctor-patient relationship by Dr. Pauline Duke; The skilled clinician, by Dr. John Lewis; Community-based discipline by Dr. Paul Patey; and Resources to the community by Sister Elizabeth Davis.
At 2:45 there will be a video tribute, followed by the ribbon cutting with Dr. Roger Butler and members of the Ross family. The closing prayer at 3 p.m.will be by Archdeacon Frances Buckle.
