SUBJECT: SWGC: The art of performance evaluation
DATE: November 1, 2005
Believe it or not, there is an art to evaluating the performance of your employees.
Performance evaluation is probably something that most employers think they can accomplish without too much stress and strain. However, without the proper evaluation system, your employees may not benefit and consequently will not improve their performance on the job.
Dr. Sudhir Saha aims to inform employers about the art and science of performance evaluation through his workshop “Performance Appraisal – A Way to Improve Productivity.” A professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management in the faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University, Dr. Saha has published many research papers on organizational behaviour topics such as leadership, motivation, job satisfaction, managerial attitude and managerial stress. Dr. Saha regularly participates in conferences and speaking engagements for the promotion of effective organizational behaviour and human resource evaluation system.
“A common reason for failure of a performance evaluation system is a lack of management training in the art and science of performance evaluation,” said Dr. Saha. “This seminar will show participants how they can improve organizational bottom line and employee performance by using an appropriate evaluation system.”
Topics will include performance evaluation methods, common evaluation mistakes managers make and how to avoid them, how to conduct a face-to-face performance review with a subordinate, designing an effective evaluation system.
The course will take place Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17 and 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The deadline to register is Nov. 7.
