SUBJECT: New display at Memorial University commemorates Beaumont Hamel

In honour of the 90th anniversary of the near annihilation of the Newfoundland Regiment at Beaumont Hamel, a display of books and archival documents will be unveiled later this month at the Queen Elizabeth II Library at Memorial University in St. John’s.
The display will be housed in the Centre for Newfoundland Studies (CNS) and is part of that facility’s 40th anniversary celebrations. The CNS, along with the Archives and Manuscripts Division, is the primary research centre for anyone investigating Newfoundland and Labrador’s history. The CNS is home to an amazing 75,000 volumes and holds the largest collection of Newfoundland material in the world.
The Beaumont Hamel display opens June 12 and will run until mid-September. It’ll be located in the Centre for Newfoundland Studies’ reading room on the third level of the Queen Elizabeth II Library. Admission is free. All are welcome.
The Centre for Newfoundland Studies is open to the public Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-5:45 p.m. Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. and Sunday from 2-9 p.m.
