SUBJECT: PSA: Cross-Canada Sing will feature award-winning choirs from Newfoundlandand Labrador and Alberta

As part of the events celebrating the opening of the Petro-Canada Hall, the new rehearsal and performance facility at Memorial University’s School of Music, the school is hosting Cross-Canada Sing – a simulcast performance from Edmonton to St. John’s and from St. John’s to Edmonton, which will feature the award-winning chamber choirs from Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of Alberta. Hosted by CBC’s Francesca Swann, this concert will revisit last year’s Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Amateur Choir Competition, where the University of Alberta Madrigal Singers and MUN’s Chamber Choir placed first and second. Cross Canada Singing begins at 8 p.m. in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall, located in the Music Building on Memorial’s St. John’scampus.
The Petro-Canada Hall is located in the School of Musicat Memorial University. Admission for the performance is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors (cash only). Tickets may be reserved on the School of Music Website at www.mun.ca/music/conc/tkt.htm.
In the event the Petro-Canada Hall sells-out, the D.F. Cook Recital Hall will be opened to the public to view a live broadcast of the concert on a 12-foot screen. Tickets for the live broadcast will be $5.
