Information Access and Privacy (IAP) Office

COVID-19: Our office is processing ATIPP requests as per normal policy and procedures but we note that many employees continue to work from home and may not have full access to all electronic records they would normally. As well, searches for paper records may be challenging. In these circumstances, we may seek from the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner extensions to deadlines for responding. Your assistance in focusing your request is appreciated.

Employees working from home are expected to comply with the university’s privacy policy and procedures and follow guidance for protecting privacy while working remotely.

The Information Access and Privacy (IAP) Office supports transparency and accountability at Memorial University, guided in particular by the Privacy and Information Request policies. The IAP Office offers strategic and day-to-day advisory services on information access and privacy:

The IAP Office assists Memorial University in compliance with the provincial Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 (ATIPPA) and other applicable privacy legislation, as well as developing best practices in information access and privacy. Because smart information management is important to effectively fulfill access and privacy obligations, the IAP Office works closely with Information Management and Protection.

The IAP Office benefits from the guidance of the IAP Advisory Committee.
