Memorial University

Memorial University invites applications from or nominations of current Academic Staff Members (ASMs) from within the University for the position of Head, Department of Biology. Please note that the position is open to ASMs who are not necessarily affiliated with Biology. The appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2026 (or upon filling the position) and is initially for a term of three years and is renewable.

Candidates should have a strong record of research, teaching, and administration in a relevant biological field, and possess good interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

Applications and nominations will be treated in confidence. Nominations should include a letter from the nominee agreeing to the nomination. Applications and nominations should include a current CV, and the candidate’s vision statement (1-2 pages) as to how the Department might evolve under their leadership, and how to maintain and develop our strengths in research and teaching. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to supply names and contact information for three referees.
