Who'll be the Next Top Pharmacist?
Knowledge. Talent. Dazzle. Celebrity judges. These are features of the Newfoundland and Labrador's Next Top Pharmacist contest.
As part of Pharmacist Awareness Month (PAM) annually, pharmacy students from each graduating class compete for the glamorous title of Newfoundland and Labrador's Next Top Pharmacist. The top prize not only includes the title, but also compensation to attend national Professional Development Week in Edmonton. At this conference, the winning student will represent Memorial University at the Canada's Next Top Pharmacist competition.
A white coat fashion show, medication spelling bee, talent competition and mock-mock OSCEs are some of the competition's features. Celebrity judges from the pharmacy community will evaluate the contestants throughout the evening, culminating in a shower of glory and celebration.
This is a wonderful opportunity for members of the pharmacy and university community to connect and to support the future generations of the pharmacy profession.
"We really want people to come, have fun, cheer us on, chat with us," said Kyia Hynes, Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI) Senior Representative. "We look up to pharmacists, of course, and would love the opportunity to network with them on that night."
