Pharmacist Ordering and Interpretation of Laboratory Test

The School of Pharmacy is proud to offer this exciting educational opportunity to pharmacists practicing in Newfoundland and Labrador. These self-paced courses are designed to equip pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to appropriately order, interpret, and utilize laboratory tests to provide patient care in their practice.

Two program options are available:

  1. Pharmacist Ordering and Interpretation of Laboratory Tests Clinical and Provincial Program is a comprehensive program that includes both clinical education and provincial regulatory content. The cost of this program is $250 + HST and is approved by the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador for 10 hours of accredited continuing education.
  2. Pharmacist Ordering and Interpretation of Laboratory Tests Provincial Program is a provincial-content-only program for pharmacists who have already completed an approved clinical laboratory education program. The cost of this program is $75 + HST and is approved by the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador for 3 hours of accredited continuing education.

Once registered, a Brightspace account will be created for you. You will receive an email from the Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) with a set-up link via the email address you provided. You will have 72 hours to set up your password. This email may be flagged as junk, so please ensure you check your junk mail folder.

Please allow 2-3 business days for access to the course. If you do not receive an email within 3 days, please contact CITL directly (Support Centre, Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning at 709-864-8700) or Mikaela Thorne at mmwhalen@mun.ca. To ensure prompt access, please make sure the email address you enter in the online registration form is correct.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate for their records via the email provided on registration. Please allow for 48 hours for delivery.

FAQ

1. I didn’t receive an email to set up my account. What do I do?

The email from CITL may be flagged as junk, so please ensure you regularly check your junk mail folder. If you do not receive an email within one week, please contact CITL directly (Support Centre, Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning) or mmwhalen@mun.ca. To ensure prompt access, please make sure the email address you enter into the online registration form is correct.

2. The link to set up my Brightspace account has expired. How do I reset it?

If the link to set up your Brightspace account expires, you will need to contact CITL's Support Centre for a new password set-up link. Please advise the Support Centre that you have been registered for the Pharmacy Technician Injection Program on Brightspace and need your password link reset.

3. I have already completed another clinical education program. What program should I complete?

If you have previously completed another clinical education program for laboratory test ordering and interpretation, please reach out to the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPNL) to confirm if that program meets the requirements outlined in the Standards of Practice for Pharmacist-Ordered Laboratory Tests. The School of Pharmacy cannot advise on appropriateness of other clinical education programs; all questions regarding acceptability should be directed to the College.
