Pharmacy Research Innovation Day
As part of Pharmacist Awareness Month (PAM) 2016, we present our second annual Pharmacy Research Innovation Day on March 23.
Schedule of Events:
Pharmacy Research Poster Competition: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Posters will be displayed in the former Faculty of Medicine Foyer (second floor, Health Sciences Centre). This competition is open to all undergraduate students who have completed a research project, preferably under the supervision of a faculty member in the School of Pharmacy. It is open to all graduate students in the School of Pharmacy. Three referees will judge the posters from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Snappy Synopsis: Pharmacy Graduate Research in a Nutshell 11:00 – 12:00
Snap up a nugget of some of the exciting research being conducted by graduate students in the School of Pharmacy in this exercise that encourages students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. In their quest to present their work in street language, contestants can get creative! They’re permitted to use one slide, props or people to effectively communicate the impact of their research to any Tom, Dick or Harriet in five minutes or less.
This event takes place in Lecture Theatre A on the first floor of the Health Sciences Centre, just down the stairs from the Pharmacy Research Poster Competition.
Plenary Presentation: Dr. Mohsen Sadatsafavi’s Respiratory Evaluation Sciences Program: 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Dr. Sadatsafavi will describe how his program of research taps into population-based health databases of British Columbia, to provide evidence on patterns of health technology utilization, safety, and effectiveness. He also describes how such evidence can then be put together in 'efficiency studies': studies that evaluate competing health technologies to determine which technology provides the best value for the resources it consumes.
This event takes place in the Main Auditorium of the Health Sciences Centre, just off the Main Foyer where the Pharmacy Research Poster Competition takes place.
AstraZeneca Canada makes Dr. Sadatsafavi’s Plenary Presentation possible.
