Pharmacy receives three NLCAHR awards
Dr. J.M. Gamble and two of his graduate students, Jennifer Donnan and Patricia Howse, have received development and research grants from the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Applied Health Research (NLCAHR).
Seven research projects have been awarded a total of $122,000 under the 2015 Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Applied Research (NLCAHR) Awards Program. NLCAHR funds research that aligns with the Centre's mandate: to meet the challenges of population health and health services in Newfoundland and Labrador; to address health promotion and wellness; and to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the provincial health system. Thirty applicants submitted proposals to this year's program. They included Master's students, Doctoral candidates, and faculty researchers from a range of disciplines who are either developing or proposing applied health research projects. We extend our sincere thanks to all who applied and to the peer reviewers who assessed their applications.
Dr. J.M. Gamble received a $15,000 development grant for his project, "Advancing capacity for conducting quantitative benefit-risk analysis in Newfoundland and Labrador."
Jennifer Donnan received a $6000 doctoral research grant for her work, "Integrating patient preferences and mixed treatment comparisons into quantitative benefit-risk assessment of SGLT-2 antidiabetic therapies."
Patricia Howse received a $4000 master's research grant for her work, "Safety and efficacy of incretin-based therapies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease."
