SUBJECT: Memorial University's Genesis Centre and NEIA to enter into partnership

Memorial University’s Genesis Centre and the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Association (NEIA) have entered into a formal partnership, the purpose of which is to collaborate in relation to delivering entrepreneurial programming in Newfoundland and Labrador.
“The recent focus on clean technology from governments and their agencies has created a new public awareness about the importance of achieving better environmental outcomes in business,” said Kieran Hanley, executive director, NEIA. “We believe that this will contribute to a new interest from entrepreneurs and result in the emergence of more clean technology startups.”
“NEIA and the Genesis Centre look forward to continuing to work together, as we strive to embody our shared values of entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development in the province, as well as making meaningful strides towards environmental sustainability and a strong, clean tech sector,” said Michelle Simms, president and CEO, Genesis Centre.
Mr. Hanley says it is important for NEIA to engage entrepreneurs at their earliest stages.
“As an association we are able to offer important supports to clean technologies throughout the life of the business – supports that are complementary to the unequalled support the Genesis Centre can provide.”
The partnership will include deliverables from both organizations. These will include enabling access to programs and resources, such as mentors and networks, as well as some shared marketing activities.
