News Release
REF NO.: 53
SUBJECT: Memorial University commerce students to host 53rd annual Business Day
DATE: March 7, 2018
Business students at Memorial University will host the 53rd annual Business Day on Friday, March 9, at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in St. John’s.
A half-day conference organized entirely by the graduating class of commerce students, Business Day is one of the oldest traditions at the Faculty of Business Administration.
This year’s theme is Proud People, Powerful Potential and features Lisa Browne, chief executive officer, Stella’s Circle, and Mike Wahl, managing director, Definitions Health and Wellness, as speakers.
The keynote address will be delivered by Emad Rizkalla, chief executive officer, Bluedrop Performance Learning.
“On behalf of the Business Day committee, I’m excited to welcome the business community to our conference,” said Katie Keats, committee chair. “This year, we’ve decided to focus on local business leaders who have chosen to invest their time and talents in Newfoundland and Labrador. We look forward to celebrating them and to hearing insights from their business journeys.”
The conference is open to students, faculty members and business professionals. It begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast and networking; the speaking engagements will conclude by 1 p.m. A mixer will follow. Registration is required, but members of the media are invited to attend.
“We’re proud to see that the tradition of Business Day continues,” said Dr. Isabelle Dostaler, dean of the business faculty.
“Organizing this event – from behind-the-scenes logistics to preparing an agenda that’s relevant to the business community – is one of many ways that our students gain experience relevant to the real world of business. It also offers our students and faculty members another means by which we engage with the business community, ensuring that the ties that connect us are strong. We’re pleased to support the efforts of this year’s Business Day committee and we wish them the best of luck.”
