SUBJECT: PSA: Harris Centre hosting MUNbuttoned: PhDs On the Go

Are you curious about the research going on at Memorial? This is your chance to learn more!

Members of the public and the media are invited to attend Memorial University’s MUNbuttoned: PhDs On the Go on Friday, April 7, at 7-9 p.m. at the Rocket Room, 272 Water St. in St. John’s.

Eight Memorial PhD students will present snapshots of their diverse and compelling research in six minute whirlwind presentations during this interactive event.

Learn about all the varied and intriguing research going on at Memorial, everything from barriers to mental health for communities of colour in Canada, mapping the underside of icebergs using an autonomous underwater vehicle, analyzing the buildings of residential schools and their social meanings how the same leadership behaviours affect employees in different ways and much more.

The presenters represent several faculties and disciplines. They are as follows:

  • Brendan Harvey, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science
  • Opeyemi Jaunty-Aidamenbor, Interdisciplinary program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Katherine Morton, Sociology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Emma Quinlan, Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine; and
  • Mingxi Zhou, Ocean and Naval Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science

The event is open to everyone and admission is free.

This is a live event inspired by a recent partnership with the School of Graduate Studies and CBC Radio.
