SUBJECT: Memorial University to officially launch Centre for Social Enterprise

The Centre for Social Enterprise will hold its official launch on Thursday, May 25, from 12-2 p.m. at the Suncor Energy Hall, School of Music, on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus.
The Centre for Social Enterprise was created to act as a catalyst to develop new social entrepreneurs, strengthen existing social enterprises and build resilience through social innovation as a means of fostering economic success and sustainability throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. A campus-wide centre based in St. John’s, the centre is a collaboration between the Faculty of Business Administration, School of Social Work and School of Music.
As part of its programming, the centre has developed work placements for Memorial students at social enterprises and socially innovative organizations in St. John’s. Some students who have undertaken these work placements will attend the event, which will also feature performances from Memorial’s Opera RoadShow and Stella’s Circle Inclusion Choir, two groups that have availed of work placement students.
Members of the media are invited to attend the event. Representatives of Memorial University, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation are expected to attend.
Limited parking is available in lot 15. Upon arrival, please check in with staff at the event.
