SUBJECT: PSA: Changing North American attitudes toward lesbian and gay people
DATE: March 1, 2016
Dr. Tina Fetner of McMaster University will present a lecture at Memorial University on changing attitudes to lesbian and gay people in Canada and the United States.
According to Dr. Fetner, attitudes toward lesbian and gay people have changed rapidly in recent decades, but like any social phenomenon, these changes are uneven across social contexts.
Dr. Fetner considers three connected factors (social movement activity, anti-discrimination policy and social connections) and compares Canada with the United States and considers differences among the U.S. states.
The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Sociology and takes place on Friday, March 4, at 12 p.m. in room A-1045 of the Arts and Administration building.
All are welcome.
