SUBJECT: Memorial University hosting Rhododendron Festival

DATE: June 17, 2016

Memorial University’s Botanical Garden has more than 200 varieties of rhododendrons. Join us for special exhibits, talks and walks and workshops all about rhododendrons from June 18-19.

Register for our workshop and take home a one-of-a-kind hybrid rhododendron/azalea or register for a wine and walk through our garden trails. Workshop and walks will be presented by Todd Boland, research horticulturist.

All events take place at the garden, 306 Mount Scio Rd., St. John’s.

 

Workshop No. 1:

Care and Cultivation of Rhododendrons

Learn all about rhododendron care. All participants will go home with a one-of-a-kind rhododendron/azalea hybrid.

 

Date: Saturday, June 18

Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Format: PowerPoint presentation and walk

Fee: $55 public and $50 Friends of the Garden members

Rhododendron Walk and Talk No. 1 and No. 2:

Join Todd Boland for a walk and talk showcasing the rhododendrons in our gardens. Did you know these garden varieties are rhododendron cousins to our Labrador tea, blueberry, partridgeberry and other Newfoundland and Labrador flora?

No. 1: Saturday, June 18

No. 2: Sunday, June 19

Time: 2:30-4 p.m.

Format: Garden walk (outdoor program)

Fee: General admission / Free for Friends of the Garden members and Memorial   University students

Drop-in program. Pre-registration is not required.
