SUBJECT: PSA: SPARKS Literary Festival to take place this weekend

Memorial University’s Faculty of Arts is sponsoring the sixth annual SPARKS Literary Festival on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Suncor Energy Hall, School of Music, on the St. Johh’s campus.
The festival is divided into four sessions, each of which will consist of a mix of various genres and a combination of readings and discussion. Participating authors include Don Austin, Melissa Barbeau, Michael Crummey, Stan Dragland, Jenny Higgins, Ed Kavanagh, Thomas McCarthy, Don McKay, Linden MacIntyre, Janet McNaughton, Lisa Moore, Beth Ryan, Leslie Vryenhoek, Tracey Waddleton, Russell Wangersky and Shosanna Wingate.
Books will be available for sale and local magazines and publishers will be displaying material. An evening reception will follow the day-long event. Admission is free and parking will be available in lot 15B. Food can be purchased on-site between 12-1 p.m.
In addition to the readings and exhibits, the winner of the annual Cox & Palmer SPARKS Creative Writing Award will be announced at the conclusion of the festival.
