SUBJECT: PSA: Merchant navy veterans to be honoured with Queens Diamond Jubilee Medals
DATE: October 29, 2012
The Marine Institute (MI) of Memorial University of Newfoundland will be hosting a Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal presentation ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 3:30 p.m. in the student lounge at MIs Ridge Road campus.
The ceremony will be presided over by John C. Crosbie, Lieutenant-Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, and will pay tribute to six merchant navy veterans for their contributions to Canada.
Media are welcome to attend.
The Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth IIs accession to the throne as Queen of Canada. During the year of celebrations, 60,000 deserving Canadians will be recognized for their significant contributions and achievements to this country.
