SUBJECT: Memorial University loves its MUNdays

The official launch of I ♥ MUNdays 2012 started the week off right this morning with a tasty pancake breakfast and a boisterous and colourful Spirit Parade.
Students wore costumes and face paint, waved flags, carried banners and chanted and cheered their way through the St. John’s campus this morning during the parade. Congratulations to the Pakastani Students Association for winning the most spirited group and $1,000!
As well, Spirit Award challenges have begun and will continue all week long. Teams collect clues and compete in challenges; most spirited team wins $1,000!
The fun continues on the St. John’s campus tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 19, with Kindness Friday. At this all-day event, everyone is invited to commit acts of kindness or bring in non-perishable food items to help the university community “fill the square” in front of Hatcher House at Paton College. Food donations will go to Memorial’s Campus Food Bank.
Then, drop into the University Centre food court for the UC Lounge. Relax, kick back in a comfy chair and enjoy live DJs and entertainment all day long.
As well, many students will cross the stage and receive their hard-earned degrees at the fall convocation sessions in St. John’s at the Arts and Culture Centre. To all students receiving a degree, congratulations! Sessions begin at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
And at 8 p.m., the Memorial University Students’ Union hosts a Graduation Concert in the Breezeway.
MUNdays highlights the diversity, ingenuity, excellence, kindness and community spirit that distinguish Memorial as one of the best post-secondary institutions in the world.
A full slate of events and activities are planned, encouraging students, staff, faculty and alumni to come together, celebrate Memorial and have an unforgettable time.
