SUBJECT: Corner Brook venue announced for live screening of Memorial University event about oil spill preparedness

In response to interest in the Thursday, Feb. 21, Memorial Presents public forum, Avoiding the Worst-Case Scenario: Are we ready for a Spill? at 7:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in St. Johns, the Harris Centre has added a venue for individuals in the Corner Brook region to participate in the event.
The primary event at the Sheraton will be broadcast via the Internet to room LC 301, Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. Laptop computers will be provided in the room to allow for longdistance audience participation in the event. The Corner Brook venue is being organized in partnership with ACAP Humber Arm Environmental Association
Featured speakers include Scott Vaughan, commissioner of the environment and sustainable development, with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada; Max Ruelokke, CEO of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board; and Dr. Bill Montevecchi, professor of biology at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
The live webcast will also be accessible from the Harris Centres website for those unable to make it to one of the public venues. Admission is free at both of the live venues and all members of the public are welcome to attend. The panel presentations will be followed by an audience Q and A session.
