News Release
REF NO.: 47
SUBJECT: The party gets underway at Memorial University
DATE: October 19, 2011
Memorials annual fall celebrations kick off this week with a free pancake breakfast at the St. Johns campus, and a breakfast bazaar at the Marine Institute. At the St. Johns and Marine Institute campuses, MUNdays is slated to run Oct. 20-25; at Grenfell Campus the festivities are already in full swing, running from Oct. 18-22.
Celebrations take place under the banner of I Love MUNdays on the St. Johns campus, I Fell for Grenfell at Grenfell Campus and I Love MI MUNdays at the Marine Institute.
Join us bright and early tomorrow morning at the main dining hall at R. Gushue Hall on the St. Johns campus for the free pancake breakfast, the official launch of MUNdays 2011 and the Spirit Parade. The breakfast will run from 8-9:30 a.m. with the launch kicking off at 9:15 a.m., and the Spirit Parade marching out at 9:30 a.m.
Remember to register for the breakfast at www.mun.ca/mundays and bring along your non-perishable food item for the campus food bank.
Then regroup at 10 a.m. in the Field House for Out Move Sammy, the best residence versus Sammy the Sea-Hawk dance contest ever.
During the next five days, the university will go down in the history books as a Guinness World Record holder (we hope), do some good in the community and shell out thousands of dollars in prizes to top ranters and spirited teams, all during this years completely revamped I Love MUNdays celebrations.
MUNdays highlights the diversity, ingenuity, excellence, kindness and community spirit that distinguish Memorial as one of the best post-secondary institutions in the world.
A full slate of events and activities are planned, encouraging students, staff, faculty and alumni to come together, celebrate Memorial and have an unforgettable time.
Complete schedules, including dates, locations and times for all events, are available online at www.mun.ca/mundays/schedule/, www.swgc.mun.ca/celebrate/Pages/default.aspx, and www.mi.mun.ca/MIMUNdays/schedule/.
