SUBJECT: PSA: Fisheries and Marine Institute to hold Remembrance Day ceremony
DATE: November 9, 2011
The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland will pause and pay homage to those who have lost their lives in battle during a special Ceremony of Remembrance Thursday, Nov. 10, at 12 p.m. at the Marine Institute.
The media are invited to attend.
In total, 10 wreaths will be laid by the Marine Institute, the Marine Institute Students Union, Memorial University of Newfoundland, the Company of Master Mariners, the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineers, the Canadian Forces Naval Engineering School, the merchant navy, the Royal Canadian Naval Association and the Crows Nest Officers Club. Mr. Jack Harris, member of Parliament, St. Johns East, will also be laying a wreath.
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join in this special event to commemorate the armed and merchant navy forces that participated in the First World War and the Second World War.
Glenn Blackwood, executive director, Marine Institute, will be on hand to honour veterans everywhere as Remembrance Day approaches on Nov. 11.
A reception will be held following the service.
