SUBJECT: Memorial University power outage update

Paton College: The university is unable to provide emergency power to Hatcher House in Paton College. The 81 students in Hatcher House are being relocated.
Guy Court, Burton’s Pond Apartments: An emergency generator will supply power to Guy Court in Burton’s Pond Apartments. The 126 students living in Guy Court will not have to relocate.
Current numbers of students affected by temporary relocation: 455
Total number of students in residence: 1,400
Followup: Editors and producers please note, the university will hold a media briefing on the issue at:
TIME: 6:30 p.m.
PLACE: Main Entrance, Field House, Westerland Road
Note: Two senior Memorial University officials will be available to respond to media questions at that time. Students will also be available for comment.
Please be aware that the Field House is now officially a temporary residence. An opportunity will be provided to get on-camera general shots inside, but we ask ENG to please respect the privacy of the residents and follow the instructions of our media co-ordinators.
