SUBJECT: Holyrood Marine Base open house

The Marine Institute (MI) will host its third annual community open house at its Holyrood Marine Base on Friday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Members of the media and general public are encouraged to attend.
This event is an opportunity to learn about the Marine Institute’s training and research activities at the base while exploring fisheries science, the SmartBay project, ocean technology and remotlye operated vehicles (ROVs). Guests will be able to participate in the MI Ocean Net beach cleanup, demonstrations, face painting, barbecue, and win prizes.
Schedule:
Demonstrations: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
MI Ocean Net beach cleanup: 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Barbecue: 12 – 2 p.m.
