SUBJECT: Mark your calendars now for the Monte Carlo Charity Gala
DATE: November 8, 2010
The 34th Annual MUN Monte Carlo Charity Gala takes place Nov. 13, starting at 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, St. John's. Monte Carlo is a black tie charity gala put on by medical students at Memorial University. This night will feature musical entertainment, presentations by the medical school classes, gambling in support of six charities, as well as silent and live auctions.
One of the special items available for auction this year is an autographed basketball from the USA (Men's) Gold Medal team from Beijing Olympic Games 2008 (#164 0f 200 made).
Last years Monte Carlo Charity Gala, organized by first and second-year medical students, raised a record $57,000, bringing the total amount raised since the charity ball was started in 1977 to over $1 million.

The charities selected to benefit from this years Monte Carlo Gala are the ALS Society of Canada; the Hub; the Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association; the Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Assault Crisis & Prevention Centre; Bridges to Hope, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the impact of poverty on families living in the community; and the Corner Brook Shrine Club, a division of the provincial Mazol Shriners.
