SUBJECT: Marine Institute launches new master of technology management program

The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University (MI) continues to expand career options with the addition of a master of technology management program, offered by the institute’s School of Ocean Technology.
The master of technology management focuses on strategic planning, decision making and technology management and studies the structure and operation of technology-based organizations.
“Nationwide there is an increasing demand for skilled and experienced professionals who can manage the development and deployment of technology across a broad spectrum of industries and who can leverage technology to improve core business performance,” said Dwight Howse, head of the School of Ocean Technology. “Graduates will become effective leaders who can lead the growth of diverse organizations with an ability to think strategically about the issues that encompass the management of technology.”
All courses within the program will be offered fully online, attracting students from a global market and addressing the needs of this unique professional population. Applicants must meet the general admissions requirements of Memorial University’s School of Graduate Studies and have a bachelor of technology or other undergraduate degree with appropriate technology and business management courses.
Those wishing to complete the master’s degree who are diploma of technology graduates holding appropriate professional certification should first complete the university’s online bachelor of technology program.
“This program, the first of its kind in Canada, focuses on developing leaders in technology-based industry. Another example of how we are responding to the educational needs of technology industries and spreading our reputation for academic excellence,” added Mr. Howse.
