Aislinn Hunter’s stint as fall 2008’s writer-in-residence at Memorial University has officially commenced.
Her first event will be a reading on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m., at the Petro Canada Hall. Admission is free, as is parking in Lot 15.
Ms.Hunter has published poetry, short fiction, a novella, a novel, essays and reviews as well as young adult non-fiction. She has been called a “genuine ambidexter, equally gifted in fiction and poetry.”
The Faculty of Arts and the Department of English, along with the Canada Council for the Arts who co-fund the position, are sponsoring Ms. Hunter’s three-month residency for the fall 2008 term. The writer-in-residence also serves as a resource for the university community, Ms. Hunter is available to meet with writers at any stage, working in any genre. This service is provided free of charge, and is available to everyone, not just those with ties to the university.
