Note to editors:
Memorial University’s Harris Centre will host a workshop in partnership with the Avalon Gateway Regional Economic Development Inc., at Bird Island Resort, St. Bride’s on Nov. 8, 2006. The workshop begins with a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and the public is invited to attend. There is no cost for the workshop, and lunch is also provided.
The purpose of the workshop is to discover new ways in which Memorial University can help grow the economy and improve the quality of life of the Avalon Gateway Region.
This session is open to community leaders, volunteers working in local organizations, town councillors, teachers, government officials, business owners and operators, and any individual interested in the future of the Avalon Gateway Region.
As a prelude to the workshop and to stimulate public debate, on the evening of Nov. 7 the Harris Centre will hold a Memorial Presents session on titled, Getting Connected: Can Communications Technology Transform Your Community? at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 Bird Island Resort, St. Bride’s.
Media agencies are encouraged to send representatives to both events.
