Have you ever wondered what nature and engineering have in common?
Engineering and nature may seem miles apart but, in fact, they share a common shape and structure. On Thursday, September 22, Professor Adrian Bejan, who is ranked among the 100 most highly cited authors in all fields of engineering, will explain the shape that links them, and answer your questions. Join Dr. Adrian Bejan, the J. A. Jones Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at DukeUniversity, who is causing a scientific stir with his constructal theory of nature. He will discuss the new guiding principle – that nature develops its architecture along the path of least resistance. Dr. Bejan is the author of 17 books and over 400 journal articles and has received numerous awards. He holds 14 honorary doctorates.
Speaking of Engineering is hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University and the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Shape and Structure, from Engineering to Nature begins at 7:30 p.m. in the S.J. Carew Building lecture theatre (room EN2006), Memorial University, St. John’scampus. Admission is free. All are welcome. Reception will follow.
