SUBJECT: Respected aboriginal leader delivers lecture at Memorial University

To commemorate National Aboriginal Day, Memorial University’s Faculty of Arts is co-sponsoring a special lecture tonight, Wednesday, June 21, 2006, by one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most respected aboriginal leaders.
Dr. Elizabeth Penashue of the Innu Nation, an honorary degree recipient of Memorial, will deliver a talk tonight titled Sustaining the Innu Culture.
Her lecture is also sponsored by the Aboriginal Minor program, the St. John’s Native Friendship Centre Association and Provincial Airlines-Innu-Mikun Airlines.
The lecture takes place in the Arts and Administration Building on the St. John’s campus from 8-10 p.m. in room A-1046.
Free parking is available in lot 15B near the Music Building.
