SUBJECT: Researchers to present findings of ship evacuation simulation at workshop

The Marine Institute’s Offshore Safety and Survival Centre, BMT Fleet Technology Limited and the National Research Council of Canada’s Institute for Ocean Technology will host a workshop on Advanced Ship Evacuation Simulation on Friday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Hampton Hall, Marine Institute, Ridge Road.
The workshop will present data collected by researchers on the performance of passengers evacuating from ships in simulated evacuation and abandonment conditions. Participants in the workshop will discuss the possible application of the research to ship design, offshore structures, emergency response planning and training and the regulatory process.
