SUBJECT: Public forum on teacher stress

A public forum, titled Teacher Stress and Working Conditions: Implications for Teaching and Learning, will be held on Monday, Feb, 6, 2006, at 7:30 p.m.at the Inco Innovation Centre Lecture Theatre (IIC-2001), Memorial University. The forum will feature a lecture by Dr. Lynda Younghusband, assistant professor at the Student Counselling Centre at Memorial, on her research on teacher stress in Newfoundland and Labrador, and its impact on the teaching and learning environments.

Panelists of the forum include Dr. David Dibbon, associate dean for undergraduate programs with Memorial University’s Faculty of Education, Denise Pike, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of School Councils, and Glenda Cluett, a teacher recently retired from the Eastern School District.

The forum is hosted by Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development. The public is invited to attend and participate in a dialogue and a question and answer period.
