SUBJECT: Major funding for an interprofessional education project at Memorial University to be announced Thursday

The Honourable R. John Efford, Minister of Natural Resources Canada and Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador, on behalf of the Honourable Ujjal Dosanjh, Minister of Health, will announce a major grant from Health Canada to Memorial University on Thursday Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Fluvarium, Nagle’s Hill Road. The grant is to develop an interprofessional education curriculum for Memorial University with activities that span the health professional education curriculum.
The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Education, will also attend on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Christopher Loomis, vice-president (research) at Memorial University, will speak on behalf of the university. Deans and directors of participating faculties and schools, as well as student representatives, will also be present.
The grant is being awarded to the Centre for Collaborative Health Professional Education (CCHPE) at Memorial University.
