Memorial’s Department of Political Science will sponsor a lecture, titled Observing the Orange Revolution: Ukraine's Election of 26 December 2004, on Monday, Feb. 21. The lecture will start at 7:30 p.m.in the Arts and AdministrationBuilding, room AA-1045. Free parking is available in Lot15, across from the Schoolof Music. Guest speakers for the lecture will be Jeff Mackey and Bob Winsor, both official Canadian observers of the election; Ross Reid, deputy minister to the premier of Newfoundland and Labrador; and Derek Butler, chief executive officer of the Association of Seafood Producers (ASP). The lecture will examine the electoral process in Ukraine and give some background on the political climate.
