SUBJECT: PSA: Memorial professor examines the history of the hospital

The Department of History Speakers Series continues at Memorial with Dr. Jim Connor, John Clinch Professor of Medical Humanities and History of Medicine, on Friday, April 15. Dr. Connor’s lecture, titled A Familiar, Alien Place: A Natural History of the Hospital, will examine the rise of the general hospital in Western society, from the 19th century to the present. Dr. Connor will talk about changing hospital architecture, the impact of medical technology, and how the "hospital" has become the central institution in health care delivery. The lecture will be held in the Arts and Administration Building, room A-4004 and will start at 1 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend.
