SUBJECT: Notable social activist to speak at Memorial University

Accomplished New Zealand author, professor and former politician Dr. Marilyn Waring will be in St. John’s June 28 for an evening lecture. Dr. Waring has led major development projects for the United Nations Development Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization and sat as an MP in New Zealand for nine years. She’s also the author of the international best-seller Counting for Nothing. The lecture takes place Tuesday, June 28, 2005, from 7:30-9 p.m.in room EN-2006 in Memorial’s Engineering Building. Members of the public are invited to attend. Free parking is available in Area 16 near the University Centre. Gated parking is available in Areas 60 and 61 for a $2 fee.
