Our Annual Giving team reaches out to alumni, donors, faculty, staff and friends of Memorial in order to raise support for student scholarships, research, and many other essential programs on all of Memorial’s campuses that support our current and future students. Your donations, no matter the size, make a difference at Memorial. When you want to make a donation the Annual Giving team is here to help. Donations can be made any time online through our online giving form. Every year we send out a mail piece to select alumni and friends that highlights student success. We participate in Giving Tuesday each year. We help donors set up scholarships, bursaries, and awards. And each year our student callers connect with alumni by phone to invite them to support Memorial’s students.

About the Calling Program

The Student Calling Program is an important and thriving piece of Memorial University’s Annual Giving efforts. Every year the call center employs up to 25 current students who represent the diversity, talent, and lively enthusiasm unique to Memorial.

Student callers are essential to maintaining strong relationships with alumni, donors and friends of Memorial. Throughout the course of the year student callers spend over 5,000 hours on the phone and reach out to more than 25,000 individuals.

Our callers provide updates on recent campus developments, share their passion for Memorial, experience some amazing conversations, increase private support to Memorial and thank existing donors. Students employed at the call centre gain valuable work experience with a flexible schedule that allows them to keep their studies top priority.

Above all, they understand that each and every gift to Memorial truly matters—regardless of its size.

Call Center Facts

The Calling Program has been active since 1989 and raises money each year for program enrichment, research, scholarships, bursaries, awards, and state-of-the-art learning facilities.

Our student callers update contact information to help reduce returned mail and save paper. To date, they have updated the contact information for over 60,000 Memorial alumni, donors and friends across Canada and the United States.

Our students typically call on Sundays from 4-7 p.m. and Monday – Thursday from 6-9 p.m. (NT).
