PhD student reconized at earth sciences conference
Stefanie Brueckner, a PhD student with the Department of Earth Sciences, was one of 18 winners for best poster and oral presentations at the Goldschmidt 2012 conference in Montreal.
She will receive a prize valued at $500 for her talk, entitled Mineralogical and Geochemical Evidence for Synergetic Precious Metal Enrichment in a Deformed Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide (VMS) System.
Ms. Brueckner is supervised by Paul Sylvester and Steve Piercey and is currently undertaking a project on the Ming VMS deposit in Baie Verte to understand the genesis of gold within this deposit.
