Geochemistry and Geochronology
Geochemistry is the study of the chemical and isotopic composition of rocks, minerals, sediments, fossils, soils, water, biota and their constituents. Geochronology is the science of determining the age of these materials, principally using isotopic decay schemes. Many of our geochemists specialize in making precise measurements of trace elements and isotope ratios using mass spectrometric methods to determine the age and origin of earth materials.
