Planning on working or studying (long-term) in the United Kingdom in the near future?
If so you should know that VFS Global visit Memorial University campus in St. John's three times per year (once per semester) to conduct UK visa appointments and collect biometrics. Please visit the VFS Global website at the following link to view upcoming dates in St. John's, NL: https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/ca/en/vacs/st-johns
To determine if you need to complete the biometrics process, please visit the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website, www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration.
What is a biometrics appointment?
It is a clinic where you will have digital fingerprints and photographs taken as a part of the visa application process for the UK.
Why would I be interested?
In November 2008, the U.K. Border Agency underwent a complete restructuring of their immigration system at which time they implemented biometrics as a part of their visa application process. The only physical visa application centres in Canada to have this process completed are Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver (or a mobile clinic that visits Halifax). Your visa application will not be viewed until you have enrolled your biometric information. Without the mobile unit, you will have to fly to one of the previously noted locations to have the biometrics completed at your expense.
How do I make an appointment?
Please note that you cannot book a biometrics appointment without applying for a visa first.
You can make an appointment at the same time you complete your online visa application: https://www.gov.uk/apply-to-come-to-the-uk
The appointment fee is USD $75* per application and must be paid online at the time of applying. This fee is in addition to the visa application fee. This fee includes the outbound and return delivery of your visa documents to/from the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre (DMC).
* Fee is subject to change with little notice; to confirm current fee structure visit: https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/ca/en/vacs/st-johns
Where does the visa appointment take place?
The clinic will be located in the University Centre, UC-4000 (Student Life)
What do I bring to the appointment?
It is required that you bring the following to the appointment:
- Valid original passport
- Completed and printed visa application form (including all supporting documentation)
- Appointment confirmation and receipt, visa application fee receipt
- Confirmation of health surcharge payment (if applicable)
Visa applicants are advised to read all sections related to their particular visa type thoroughly to ensure they include all required supporting documentation in their application package.
