What to Expect
Instructions for Graduates
Make the most of your convocation experience by following these important steps:
- Arrive Early: Graduates must arrive at least one hour before the ceremony begins.
- Pick Up Your Academic Dress: Gowns and hoods are available in the Gown Room at the Arts and Culture Centre. After collecting your academic dress, proceed to pick up your stage card and take your assigned seat in the auditorium.
- Hold On to Your Stage Card: Keep your stage card in hand at all times—it’s your key to crossing the stage!
- Crossing the Stage: Graduates will walk the stage in order of degree and program. When it’s your turn, you’ll be recognized by a presiding university official as you make your big moment count. If you have received an award it will be announced as you cross the stage
- Receiving Your Degree: Your parchment will be presented backstage immediately after you cross the stage.
- Capture the Moment: A professional photo will be taken backstage before you return to your seat.
- Respect the Ceremony: Graduates and guests are expected to remain seated for the entire ceremony to honor all graduates.
Congratulations—we can’t wait to celebrate your achievements!
What is the duration of each session?
Please allow for approximately two hours from the start time to the end of each session. Out of courtesy for all graduates, all graduates and guests are asked to please remain in their seats until the end of the convocation ceremony
