Samantha Hansford (BSc 2011) – Driven by a personal connection to her research, Samantha has identified genetic mutations linked to a high-risk form of gastric cancer that has affected her own family. Her work is helping pave the way for early detection and targeted treatments.

Victoria Linehan (BSc 2011) – A compelling science communicator, Victoria won the Eastern Regional Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition in 2015, securing her place in the national competition and showcasing her ability to translate complex research into compelling storytelling.

Mike Dawe (BSc 2007) – Blending science with creativity, Mike is a member of the acclaimed Celtic rock band The Rolling Kings, featured on CBC’s St. John’s Morning Show. His songwriting talent shines in the band’s debut album, Raise a Glass, which includes Streets of George, a song he wrote during his undergraduate years.

Andrew O'Keefe (BSc 2004) – Andrew’s research is changing the way we understand anaphylaxis in children. His study revealed that recurrence rates are higher than previously thought, and his work is raising awareness about the underuse of EpiPens in critical situations.

Jason Roberts (BSc 2001) – A pioneer in personalized medicine, Jason co-developed a groundbreaking bedside DNA test that predicts how patients will respond to medication after heart surgery, helping to improve recovery outcomes.
