On Aug. 11, 2016, over 100 players and volunteers gathered on the green of Bally Haly Golf and Country Club to enjoy the summer sun and raise money for student scholarships and awards and educational initiatives.

The tournament began in 2009 with 80 players, and raised just over $13,000. Eight years later, the number of players has not only increased, but the total funds raised for the past few years has been $25,000 per year.

A number of prizes are donated by  various sponsors and awarded via a prize draw.

The list of this year’s on-course contest sponsors are as follows:

• Sobeys sponsored the Treasure Chest (which included a selection of Sobey’s products and gift cards
• Fresenius Kabi sponsored Birdie or Better
• Pharmacists’ Association of Newfoundland and Labrador sponsored Closest to the Pin (male)
• Sanofi sponsored Closest to the Pin (female)
• McKesson sponsored Men’s Longest Drive
• TEVA sponsored Ladies Longest Drive
• The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy sponsored the Putting Contest
• Apotex sponsored the Winning Team

The ninety-two prizes ranged from gift cards for restaurants and retail outlets, to a GPS, a FitBit, to vacations.
