Classroom Teaching
I’m a teacher who likes to help others understand why literature is not only an art but also a form of knowledge crucial for the modern world. My courses are serious but fun—and useful too. My students get a lot of feedback on their writing and ideas from me when they indicate that they want it, and the skills gained are practical for other courses and the other “real world.”
This year, 2022-23, I will be on a leave of absence in the Fall term, but I return to teach courses on contemporary African-Canadian literature and style in literature in the Winter term.
In past years, I've taught courses on film, Westerns, modern and modernist Canadian literature, and graduate seminars on ecopoetics, public intellectuals, and contemporary theory and practice. Previously, I also taught courses in American literature, film, and poetics.
